"Between easy and uneasy listening."
Golden Dark was born out of the serendipitous meeting of two musical dyslexics - David John Hull and Elo Masing - who had been feeling their way through seemingly radically different musical traditions: psychedelic folk and experimental music. Finding their way around their perceived technical shortcomings, they stumbled upon some strikingly original material in the process, resulting in what may even be construed as a new genre - subconscious songs. Melancholy irony, intensely charged eroticism and at times over-the-top theatrical cheekiness meet in the clashing of two states of mind - knowing and not knowing - creating a strange melange that cannot leave the listener untouched.
